The Readerly Collective was created for YOU - readers who are looking for your book obsessed community that is not like your typical book club.
As a licensed mental health provider, I understand the power of community and having enjoyable activities in life. I also know that many of us turn those enjoyable activities into another “should do” to check off our never-ending to-do lists. I’ve heard countless stories from clients, and my own friends and family that say they love to read, but are trying to read books they think they “should” read, feel isolated because they haven’t been able to find their “book people,” or the absolute worst - they start to feel guilty for doing something fun for themselves.
As a life-long reader, I know how precious and comforting books and reading have been in my own life. Whether it’s just to unwind after a long day at work, or to escape into another time and place when terrible things are happening in the real world, books have always been there for me. I am on a mission (can’t stop, won’t stop!) to take out the isolation, “shoulding” and guilt out of people’s reading lives and make room for more fun! I believe that as adults, we’re already doing a bunch of shit that we have to do (adulting 1/10 do not recommend, right?!) Let’s not make reading one of those “have tos”

We meet once a month to discuss our monthly reading theme (or any other books we reading and loving!) There will also be another monthly zoom call that will be for those that want to discuss the monthly journal prompts which focus on setting monthly intentions for your reading life.

There are monthly themes which are pre-chosen by me, but other than that YOU get to decide what to read. You can even pick something that doesn’t align with the theme (it’s there as a guideline to help you choose, but not a hard and fast rule that you have to follow!)

The theme discussions are recorded, and as a member, you will have access to the recordings. You will also have access to the private facebook group to continue the discussions if you weren’t able to make the call.
